Mineral Wells ISD will provide free breakfast and lunch to all students in the district for the 2023-2024 school year. This expands a policy that normally only provides free and reduced-cost meals based on a family's income. The district change eliminates the need for free and reduced-price meal applications and collecting payment for basic student meals. Mineral Wells ISD said it's able to provide the meals for the school year thanks to a federal program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This new approach reduces burdens for families and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals. We are excited to be able to feed all students one school breakfast and one school lunch per day free of charge this school year. A school lunch includes a protein, whole grain, fruit, vegetable, and milk. Healthy snacks and a la carte items that comply with USDA smart snacks are also available for purchase at an additional cost.
