🚍 MWISD Student Transportation System – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • MWISD is partnering with National Fleet Tracking to launch a districtwide GPS-based transportation system. This includes student ID badges for bus riders and the ParentView app that allows families to track bus activity in real time.

  • Every student in the district will receive a badge during the first week of school, regardless of whether they ride the bus daily. Bus riders will scan their badge when entering and exiting the school bus.

  • Students scan their ID badge when they get on and off the bus. The system records the time, date, and location of each scan. This data is viewable by transportation staff and school administrators, and parents can view it through the ParentView app.

  • ParentView is a free mobile app that lets you:

    • See when and where your child gets on or off the bus

    • Receive alerts about delays, field trip returns, or route changes

    • Request transportation changes, like switching to parent pick-up, based on district policy

    🟢 Download the ParentView app
Available on Apple & Android devices.

  • Please notify your child’s school or the transportation department as soon as possible. A replacement badge will be issued at an additional cost based on the number of replacements previously issued:

    Replacement Badge Cost:

    • 1st Replacement – Free

    • 2nd Replacement – $1

    • 3rd Replacement – $3

    • 4th and beyond – $5 each

  • Yes. The system is secure and only accessible by authorized school personnel and parents/guardians who are connected to their student through the ParentView app.

  • Yes, but implementation is planned for the 2026–27 school year. The system will help schedule and monitor transportation for UIL events, field trips, and extracurricular activities—ensuring all trips are safe, timely, and well-documented. View the full rollout plan for more info.
