Pre-K Registration | 2026–2027 School Year

Mineral Wells ISD offers a universal Pre-Kindergarten program for 4-year-olds in our community. Our Pre-K program focuses on early literacy, social development, and building a strong foundation for school success.

If your child turns 4 years old on or before September 1, 2026, they are eligible to attend Pre-K for the 2026–2027 school year.

    • All children who meet the age requirement may enroll.

    • Priority placement is given to students who meet state eligibility guidelines (such as English learners or students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals).

    • After priority placement, remaining seats are available to all families, regardless of income.

  • Some documents are needed to complete enrollment, while others are recommended and may be provided within a short period after enrollment if not immediately available.

     

    Documents Needed to Enroll

    • Proof of residency (Utility bill, lease agreement, or home purchase contract — dated within the last 30 days)
    • Parent/guardian photo ID

     

    Documents Commonly Requested (May Be Provided After Enrollment)

     

    • Child’s birth certificate
    • Immunization record
    • Social Security card (requested, not required)
    • Proof of income (only if applying for eligibility-based placement)

     

    Families have up to 30 days after enrollment to provide documentation related to a child’s identity and age. Multiple forms of documentation are accepted under Texas law.

     
  • A certified birth certificate is preferred when available, but other documents may also be used, including:

     

    • Passport
    • Hospital birth record
    • Adoption or baptismal record
    • School or medical records
    • Other legal documents that establish identity and age

     

    If a certified birth certificate is not available, families may submit an alternative document along with a brief explanation.

     

  • Students must be up to date on immunizations or have valid exemption documentation on file.
