Digital Media Specialist

Hello, I am Zackery Shirley and currently serving as the Digital Media Specialist or D.M.S. for short at Mineral Wells Independent School District.  Since beginning my journey at MWISD on June 5th, 2023, as a Summer CTE worker in Communications and Technology, I have made significant strides in my career, rapidly advancing through various roles within the organization.  My initial responsibilities involved working closely with the technology and communications teams, laying the foundation for my future endeavors.  Recognizing my dedication and potential, the district appointed me as a Digital Media Intern on August 7th, 2023, where I honed my skills and deepened my understanding of digital media and communications.

On July 1st, 2024, I was promoted to the role of Digital Media Specialist, a position that underscores my importance within the district.  In this capacity, I lead the creation and management of innovative digital content, ensuring that our communication strategies are both effective and engaging.  My role is critical in shaping the district's digital presence, as I collaborate closely with the Communications Department to develop and execute strategic initiatives that enhance our outreach and engagement.

A significant aspect of my work involves the implementation of new and improved forms of digital media technology throughout the district.  I am committed to keeping our systems at the forefront of technological advancements, recognizing that the integration of cutting-edge technology is vital for maintaining the district's competitive edge.  My passion for technology drives me to continually seek out the latest updates and innovations, ensuring that our infrastructure is always efficient and up-to-date.

In addition to my primary responsibilities, I serve as the IT specialist for the Ram Stadium video board, managed by our very own RAM Reel Production Team.  This role allows me to oversee and guide the production of high-quality media content, further showcasing the district's talents and initiatives.  My involvement with the RAM Reel Production Team emphasizes my versatility and leadership within the digital media space.

Beyond my professional responsibilities, I am dedicated to furthering my education and expertise in the field.  I am currently pursuing an associate degree in Computer Networking and Systems Administration from Texas State Technical College, a program that equips me with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in my role. Additionally, I hold an FAA Part 107 certification for drone operation, which allows me to leverage aerial technology for various projects and initiatives within the district.

My proficiency extends to a suite of Adobe programs, including After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.  These certifications reflect my commitment to mastering industry-standard tools and techniques, enabling me to produce high-quality digital content that meets the district's diverse needs.  I am continually seeking opportunities to expand my skill set and stay abreast of emerging trends in digital media and technology.

In summary, my journey at MWISD has been marked by significant achievements and a relentless pursuit of excellence.  As the Digital Media Specialist and IT specialist for the Ram Stadium video board, managed by the RAM Reel Production Team, I play a pivotal role in shaping the district's digital landscape, driving innovation, and ensuring that our communication strategies are both effective and cutting-edge.  My dedication to technology, continuous learning, and professional growth underscores my commitment to contributing to the district's success and staying at the forefront of digital media advancements.
