2025-2026 Gifted and Talented Referral for Services
Mineral Wells ISD is committed to providing a world-class education to all students. Gifted and talented students benefit from designated gifted and talented courses with an emphasis on depth and complexity, project-based learning, and opportunities to make connections locally and globally.
§29.121 DEFINITION of GIFTED & TALENTED
The “gifted and talented student” means a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who:
exhibits high-performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;
possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
excels in a specific academic field.
Referral Process
- Any student grades K-12 may be referred for GT testing during the referral window of October 1-31
- Completion of Gifted and Talented Referral Form by parent/guardian or teacher
- Completion of Parent/Guardian Inventory
- Completion of Teacher Inventory
- Cognitive & Achievement Assessments to be completed in November-February
- Notification of Results in February-March
