Information About Parent Training and Information Centers (PTI) in Texas

Posted Date: 8/16/24 (9:27 AM)

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We want to share some important information regarding resources available to families of children and youth with disabilities.  Every state, including Texas, has at least one Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) funded by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) at the U.S. Department of Education, under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These centers are designed to provide parents with the support, resources, and information they need to advocate for their children effectively.

These projects are operated by Partners Resource Network (PRN), a non-profit organization that runs the Texas PTI projects as a statewide network. PRN serves parents of children and youth with disabilities from birth through age 26, as well as youth self-advocates aged 14-26.
The PTI projects offer a variety of services, including:

  • Information about your child’s rights under IDEA
  • Guidance on navigating the special education system
  • Resources for effective advocacy
  • Support for understanding and accessing community services
We encourage you to contact these centers with any questions or for support. They are an invaluable resource for families navigating the complexities of special education.
If you would like more information or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us or visit the Partners Resource Network website at www.prntexas.org.

Thank you for your continued partnership in ensuring the success of all our students.
